About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Orange, California, El Molino de Oro offers a vibrant and authentic Mexican dining experience that beautifully marries a restaurant with a bakery and cake shop, all under one roof. This inviting establishment at 728 N Tustin St is a culinary sanctuary for those craving homestyle Mexican flavors with a fresh, handmade touch.

El Molino de Oro is best known for its diverse menu that captures the rich, bold essence of Mexican cuisine. Breakfast favorites like their hearty Chilaquiles and flavorful Breakfast Burritos, packed with ingredients such as machaca, chorizo, or bacon, are true comfort foods that awaken the senses. The extensive selection of bolillios, ranging from bean and cheese to more decadent options like chorizo and potato, are perfect for a satisfying morning meal on the go or a leisurely bite.

Dive into the savory delights of lunch and dinner with standouts like the Mole Poblano, a luscious sauce bursting with layers of spices and chocolate, or the satisfying Carnitas Sope, where tender slow-cooked pork meets fresh masa. For seafood lovers, the Mahi Mahi and Shrimp Taco Plate provides a fresh catch that’s both light and flavorful. And no meal is complete without the indulgent Carne Asada Fries with Cheese, a rich and hearty Mexican-American favorite that’s crispy, cheesy, and loaded with perfectly seasoned steak.

El Molino de Oro does not only excel in savory dishes. Their bakery delights, including freshly baked sugar cookies and muffins, alongside traditional pan dulce options, have customers raving about the quality and authenticity of each bite. One reviewer described the pan dulce as “made fresh and you can taste it,” emphasizing the artisanal care put into every item. If you’re in the mood for something lighter or uniquely sweet, their kulfi—a creamy Indian-inspired frozen dessert—offers a cool, velvety balance to the menu’s spice and richness.

The ambiance at El Molino de Oro is warm and clean, with friendly servers who make you feel right at home. The restaurant strikes a perfect balance between cozy and casual, ideal for everything from a quick lunch bite after the gym to a relaxed family brunch. Outdoor seating is available for those sunny California days, and the spotless restrooms and tidy atmosphere only add to the comfortable dining experience.

Customers consistently praise El Molino de Oro for its generous portions, affordable prices, and authentic flavors. One loyal patron called the mole “rich flavor, great portion, and consistent every time,” highlighting the reliability and quality that guests have come to expect. While the occasional “narco music” might contrast with the otherwise homestyle ambiance, it’s clear the passion for genuine Mexican food remains the star of the show.

For those looking to savor the true taste of Mexico without leaving Orange, El Molino de Oro is a must-visit destination. Whether you are drawn by the hearty, classic breakfast bolillios, the savory mole, or the sweet bakery treats, this spot delivers flavors that are satisfying, authentic, and crafted with heart.

Good home-style food. Great portions. Clean ambiance. Friendly servers. However, every now and then you hear narco music, which cheapens the experience.

Amazing little Mexican restaurant with a bakery attached. Pan Dulce here is made fresh and you can taste it. Super good. The food here is also really well priced and the food tastes amazing. Lots of options and classics to choose from. The staff is incredibly helpful and the place is very clean.

Molino de Oro continues to be one of my favorite spots. The food is always fresh and full of authentic Mexican flavor. Their prices are better than most places around, the service is fast and friendly, and the variety they offer is impressive. My personal favorite is the mole — rich flavor, great portion, and consistent every time. Suggestion for improvement: It would be amazing if they added white rice as an option. Even something simple like plain white rice, white rice with veggies, or white rice with lime. I think it would pair perfectly with the mole and many of their entrées. Also, small safety suggestion regarding the bakery section: They currently display some nut bread alongside other pastries using the same tongs. For customers with nut allergies, this could be dangerous due to cross-contamination. If possible, removing the nut bread or using separate tongs and labeling that section would help keep everyone safe. Overall, excellent food, great service, great pricing. Highly recommend Molino de Oro.

Went there for a juice after dropping the kids off at school. The vampiro and jugo verde is what we ordered. Vampire was the best of the two but both were good and healthy option for a quick "Blended Bite" we picked up tamales before but today we were being good. It's open for dine in and some tables are available outside as well. The restrooms are nice and clean. Lots of food options too. You can see some of their food items and thus love at first sight . Great place for lunch. Next time I'm having a chocolate covered strawberry from the bakery side. There is plenty of parking.

Great experience! First time here and really loved it. After burning 900 calories at the gym next door, I treated myself with an amazing taco salad with carne Al Pastor as protein. Great size and amazing flavors!!!!! This restaurant is must visit. Small and cozy and most importantly very clean. You can see staff putting effort in keeping it as it should be. Prices are competitive with a wide variety of menu options. There’s a bakery also where everything looks amazing, but that I will try that next time.

Food is amazing but the service is always terrible . Employees always have an attitude and are very rude even when being nice . Unfortunately I'll be coming back every time for the food but I just ignore the service because it's bad every single time .
